This feature is a question-and-answer session with a new Blount County Chamber member. So, here we go with our 175th installment visiting with Troy Galyon, a realtor with Your Appalachian Agent – Realty Executives Associates.
Describe what you do. I assist in all real estate transactions whether residential or commercial and on all fronts including buying, selling. leasing, and managing. I want to provide honest, efficient service for all people looking to buy, sell, or lease residential or commercial property in East Tennessee. I hope to walk with as many people on their real estate journey as possible.
How did you get started? I got started in real estate by buying and renovating homes with my grandfather who is a carpenter. After renovating a home in Knoxville with him, I decided to live in it myself and get my real estate license in order to make the process even smoother for us. I got my license and helped a childhood friend and his wife find their first home, and from that moment on, I was hooked on helping others walk through their real estate journey.
What is your background? My grandfather and I purchased and renovated homes together, giving me the skills and understanding of the residential home purchase and sale process. My mother-in-law has been an agent for 30 years, and her expertise and coaching have helped me fine-tune the skills and understanding I started building with my grandfather.
Who is your mentor? My mother-in-law Tish Hickman has been instrumental in helping me get my start. Without her support and guidance, I would not be nearly as prepared and ready to serve as I am. She has worked tireless for decades in this business, and she is quick to share information and introduce me to members of the community.
Describe your customers. I want to help all people looking to buy, sell, or rent in Blount and surrounding counties, but I hope to focus on educators and those involved with the local school systems. Both of my parents were educators, and the local school systems were good to them. I hope to give back by helping everyone involved with Blount County Schools, Maryville Schools, and Alcoa Schools find just what they need when it comes to real estate needs.
Name three things you wish you knew when you started. I wish I knew how important it was to have a closing timeline scheduled with enough time to get everything done. I wish I knew how crazy it would be to help buyers in 2021/2022.
What do you enjoy about being a realtor? I love helping people find just what they are looking for and see the look on their face at the closing table when they get the keys to the place they’ve worked so hard and waited so long to get into.
