Maryville, Tenn. – The 4th Annual Mudder’s Day Madness 5K at Montvale is set for May 7, 2016 and is limited to 600 total participants this year.
This year’s event features lower prices, new trails, more mud, new obstacles, family friendly activities, and food trucks. The course is a challenging 5K course with many hills and obstacles along the way, as well as rocky, slippery, uneven terrain throughout but is suitable for all fitness levels. Participants can run as individuals or as part of a team. The events will have two waves with the first starting at 10 am and the second at 10:20 am. Waves will include individual competitors and teams. All teams must cross the finish line together. While the winners may finish in the 20 minute range, some competitors will take more than 1 hour.
Cost is $35 through April 24 then $45 through April 30. No online registration after April 30. Race day registration will be available and cost is $45. Teams are not allowed to register or make changes on race day.
All event proceeds benefit Harmony Family Center and their service to children through foster care, adoption, and post adoption counseling and programs.
“We think this will be our best year yet,” said Pam Wolf, Founder and CEO for Harmony Family Center. “Our staff and volunteers have been working hard to build new trails and design new obstacles. We have kid-specific activities to encourage families to come and spend the day with us.”
Harmony Family Center continues to adapt the former YMCA Camp Montvale for use as the Harmony Family Center at Montvale. Located eight miles from Maryville, TN, Montvale is nestled at the foot of Chilhowee Mountain adjoining Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Montvale’s 364 acres lend themselves to a broad range of use. Therapeutic programs began with the Barn – Harmony’s program of equine assisted psychotherapy. Last summer, Harmony held the first therapeutic family camps for families of children adopted from foster care.
