Alcoa, Tenn. – The Pistol Ultra Run will take place January 3-4, 2015. Race distances include 50K, 50K Relay (3 Person), 100K, and 100 Miles. This year’s event will feature special guest, Jeff Galloway, who will host his running school and speak to participants during pre-race activities.

Started in 2013, The Pistol Ultra Run has grown significantly in popularity. In the first year, the event hosted just 55 participants. It grew to 165 finishers this past January. This coming year’s event will have a 400 participant limit between all events. Registration is open at www.pistolultra.com and will close at midnight on December 14, 2014. There is no onsite registration for this event. Participants will receive a swag bag, long-sleeve gender specific shirt, and a ticket to the pre-race meal.

The Jeff Galloway Running School will be held on Friday, January 2, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Alcoa Middle School. Cost is $99 and participants will hear from Galloway on topics including running faster, avoiding injuries, motivation, increasing running enjoyment, nutrition, fat-burning, building endurance, and training for individual goals. Galloway is an Olympian, running expert, highly sought after coach, and has worked with over 200,000 athletes. He is the inventor of the very popular Galloway Run Walk Run method. The Pistol Ultra route runs along the Alcoa-Maryville Greenway in Blount County. The 50K and 50K Relay will start at 7:55 am and the 100K and 100 Miler will start at 8 a.m. The course closes after 30 hours at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 4. Late registration is in effect and cost is $80 for the 50K, $210 for the 50K Relay, $115 for the 100K, and $160 for the 100 Miler. Fees include race route support, long sleeve gender specific tech tee, swag bag goodies, awards, and a meal ticket for the Friday night pasta dinner.

Volunteers are needed for all shifts of the event beginning on Friday, January 2, through Sunday, January 4. This does include overnight shifts. Anyone interested in volunteering can do so at www.pistolultrarun.com.
