MARYVILLE, Tenn. – Blount County’s Capitalist Pigs barbecuing team will fire up their smokers to fight cancer on Saturday, April 18 for the Fifth Annual Relay Roast, benefitting Blount County Relay for Life. The event begins at 6 p.m. and takes place at Smithview Pavilion in Maryville.
Guests will enjoy a barbeque dinner with beer or wine while listening to live music performed by the 80s tribute band, Max Headroom. Individuals ages 21 and older are allowed to attend.
Led by Kevin Painter of LeConte Wealth Management, the previous Relay Roasts have raised more than $50,000 combined for Blount Count Relay for Life, which provides funds to the American Cancer Society. “We have been overwhelmed by the unbelievable success and support from people throughout the community the last few years with this event,” Painter said. “It shows a united commitment that we can make a difference and impact to help those affected by cancer.”
The event’s popular “Spirits Wall” brown bags can be purchased for $20 and include a variety of wine or liquor with a maximum value of $200. Individuals may donate bottles for the brown bags at any location tickets are sold.
