Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee collects $438,000

Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee is pleased to announce their total donations from ‘Double Your Donation Day’ equal $438,000.

Second Harvest received $200,000 in matching gifts from sponsors and $238,000 in donations from the community. The total donations will provide over 1,300,000 meals to the hungry in their 18 county service area.

“We want to extend our sincerest gratitude to everyone who donated during Double Your Donation Day. With the community’s support, Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee will be able to provide 1,314,000 meals to the hungry in our 18 county service area.” Said, Elaine Streno, Executive Director of Second Harvest. “Not only will the people in our service area be fed, we will be able to restock our shelves after the holidays when they are normally empty.”

Double Your Donation Day takes place during a critical time for Second Harvest Food Bank. Following the holidays, the warehouse shelves are empty. Due to the generosity of the community and organizations, Second Harvest will be able to restock their shelves and provide food to families during the winter months.
