Townsend, Tenn. — All students, K-12, in Alcoa, Maryville and Blount Country schools are invited to participate in the 2013 Student Art Competition on Paper for the Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center’s Blue Ribbon Country Fair on Saturday, September 28, at the Heritage Center in Townsend.
The 2013 student art competition is again sponsored by Friends of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This year’s theme is: “Seasons of the Smokies.” Participants will compete for “Best of Show” awards for elementary, middle and high school divisions, ribbons, and small cash prizes.
Requirements for competition are as follows:
Paper size: 8 1/2 x 11 mounted on black construction paper.
Medium: Crayons, pencils, pen/ink, colored pencils, markers, watercolors, chalk, acrylic paints and computer generated art from middle and high school students only (grades 6-12).
Student information on the back of entry must include: Name, Age, Grade, School, Teacher.
Entry deadline is 5 p.m. on Tuesday, September 24. Entries may be dropped off at the Blount County Agricultural Extension Services, UT office across from the old Blount County Courthouse in Maryville, or at the Heritage Center in Townsend.
Judging will take place at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25, with the awards presentation scheduled for 1:30 PM on Saturday, September 28, at the Fair. Questions may be directed to 448-6501.
