The City of Alcoa announced the expansion of its Share the Warmth program to assist those in need with their winter utility bills.
The new addition allows City of Alcoa utility customers to round-up their bill to the nearest dollar each month, with 100 percent of the round-up proceeds supporting the Share the Warmth program.
The Share the Warmth program, administered by the Blount County Community Action Agency (BCCAA), provides a temporary stop-gap aid to people in very unusual situations. Unexpected medical expenses, the loss of a job, or a family tragedy can leave anyone in a dire financial situation.
Currently, support of the program is done by simply adding a set amount of at least $1 or more to one’s electric bill each month. If you would like to make a one-time donation or volunteer at the agency, BCCAA can be contacted directly at 865-983-8411.
To Share the Warmth of either a set monthly amount or by rounding up your monthly bill, customers can complete and submit a short online Share the Warmth Program Form at the City website, www.cityofalcoa-tn.gov/sharethewarmth, or by completing the form in person at the City of Alcoa municipal building.
