All the loud music, funny hats and coordinated team outfits worn by over 300 community volunteers was for fun. But the serious side of the helpers who called their business peers to talk about what the Blount County Chamber of Commerce does for them, boosted membership by 241 over a two-day membership event at Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee in Maryville, Tenn.

“We were blown away by the support and energy displayed by the volunteers during the event,” said Bryan Daniels, Blount Partnership president/CEO. “Many company leaders don’t know what being a chamber member means. This is our chance to tell them what the benefits are and how joining advances the community today and for years to come.”

Volunteers still have until 3:27 p.m. Thursday to close any membership sales that will be added to the final totals.

The event culminates in a wrap-up party Thursday at 5:21 p.m., where the final membership totals and dollars raised will be revealed. Additionally, volunteers will be recognized for their efforts by the announcing of the Godfaddah, Godmuddah, Goodfellas and Big Dogs, which go to the people who brought in the most memberships.

Facilitator Jimmy Cusano from Your Chamber Connection, who has worked with over 750 chambers of commerce nationally, moved around the room keeping volunteers motivated and engaged.

All new members are invited to Primetime, the largest networking event in Blount County on August 23 at Second Harvest Food Bank. It is the first major opportunity for them to make more connections than they could on their own. Log on to www.BlountChamber.com for complete information.
