Maryville, Tenn. – The Blount Partnership’s fourth annual Pigs & Politics Legislative Day returns to the Clayton Center for the Arts courtyard on the Maryville College campus Thursday, August 13 from 4:30-7:30 p.m.
This is a great opportunity for the public to visit with candidates and elected officials as they mingle in a summer pig roast setting with the community. There are no speeches; just a lot of Calhoun’s BBQ, beer provided by Smoky Mountain Brewery and a live performance by the Jeff Jopling Band.
Tickets are on sale now for $25 for the public, $20 for Blount County Chamber members and $10 for children under 18. They available by calling 865.983.2241 and online by clicking the Pigs and Politics button at www.blountchamber.com.
Elected officials will once again be serving BBQ while collecting “tips” for their respective non-profit organizations.
“This event has grown each of the first three years and is now something that our elected officials and constituents look forward to,” said Bryan Daniels, Blount Partnership president/CEO. “It really gives the public an opportunity to meet our elected officials in a casual setting.”
Officials on hand to attend at press time include Reps. Art Swann and Bob Ramsey, Blount County Mayor Ed Mitchell, Louisville Mayor Tom Bickers along with numerous Blount County commissioners and city council members.
Sponsors include Calhoun’s, Smoky Mountain Brewery, NOVACopy, Merle FM 96.7, Maryville College, Paine and Bickers, LLP, City of Alcoa, Massey Electric Company, TEAM Health, ATMOS Energy, ProNova Solutions and GEAR, Inc.
