Maryville, Tenn. – Bryan Daniels, president/CEO of the Blount Partnership located in Maryville, Tenn., was appointed to the board of the International Economic Development Council based in Washington D.C. during its meeting in Philadelphia Oct 9.
Daniels, a 16-year veteran in economic development strategies, has been a resource for many communities around the Southeast region of the United States and has served IEDC for the past five years on the awards committee and served as chairman of the committee during this year.
“I’m honored to be part of the IEDC board,” said Daniels. “It does great work nationwide in assisting economic development agencies and helps develop programs that sustain economic growth. I’m looking forward to helping with those strategies.”
Daniels’ appointment marks the third time in its 85-year heritage a Tennessean has been chosen to serve on the board.
The International Economic Development Council serves as the certifying agency for teaching and accrediting economic development agencies, strategies, programming, and their personnel. IEDC is instrumental in assisting in the development of several municipalities’ economic development strategies.
The IEDC board conferences with the U.S. Department of Commerce to aid in the deployment of programming that will sustain economic growth. In 2001, the American Economic Development Council (AEDC) and the Council for Urban Economic Development (CUED) merged to form the world’s preeminent organization of economic developers: the International Economic Development Council (IEDC).
Daniels, a certified Economic Developer by IEDC and Certified Chamber Executive by ACCE (American Chamber of Commerce Executives, is currently serving on a national post as a Board of Regent for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce based in Washington D.C. which begun earlier in 2013.
