TOWNSEND, Tenn. – Dancing Bear Lodge is thrilled to welcome new additions and renovations this season. They include an expansive new event pavilion, 4 new luxury accommodations, along with beautiful updates to The LeConte cabin and additional renovations to existing loft cabins.
The new pavilion, known as ‘The Landing’, is a grand gathering space adjacent to Dancing Bear Appalachian Bistro, the Event Center, and Event Lawn, and will be fully built by July 2017. The space can be reserved as part of a wedding package, or a la carte for individual parties and events. With a seating capacity of 125, The Landing will allow the Dancing Bear property to accommodate weddings and private events, of up to 200 people, by combining their current event space with the new pavilion.
“One of our challenges has been that we are limited with weddings and large events due to the size of the event room. However, The Landing expands our current space beautifully, and will give us the opportunity to host larger weddings, private events, and covered ceremonies,” said Christi Silliman, Dancing Bear Lodge’s General Manager.
In tandem with construction of the new pavilion, Dancing Bear owners Mark & Sharon Oldham, are investing further in the Townsend community and property by building 2 additional luxury villas, representing four new rentable accommodations, matching the existing Sugarlands and Clingman’s Dome luxury villas. These enhancements to the property follow shortly behind the renovations that were recently completed to existing accommodations, which upgraded all 2 bedroom Luxury Lofts to include 2 bathrooms.
The property’s largest cabin, The LeConte, also received some fresh updates for the season, courtesy of interior designer Cris Angsten. As the property’s most multifunctional cabin, The LeConte is used for meetings, bridal parties, business travelers, as well as guests seeking a spacious getaway. Angsten, who also oversaw the 2015 interior design side of the reconstruction project, shared that, “It was time for a decor refresh, but our goal for this cabin was to lighten it up and improve its function.”
The biggest change came into play with a floating wall, situated between the “bedroom” side of the cabin and the “living” side, with the fireplace. This allows for better multifunctional use of the space, without losing the charm.
When the Oldhams purchased Dancing Bear in the fall of 2014, their first priorities were upgrading the existing facilities, adding the Appalachian Bistro, and restoring amenities such as wireless internet access to the luxury cabins. Now they are focusing on these next stages of enhancements, which will also include adding a new road for deliveries to the Bistro and additional employee parking.
