Maryville, TN — Blount County Habitat for Humanity is excited to announce its first Community Business Build which is a collaborative effort between eight of Blount County’s top companies. These groups help erect one of seven homes as part of the Alcoa Inc. Centennial Project on East Bell Street in Alcoa, Tenn.

Participating businesses include: Denso Manufacturing of TN, Alcoa Inc., Surface Igniter, Citizen’s Bank of Blount County, Smith’s Life and Legacy, Cintas, Newell Rubbermaid, and Clayton Homes.

The build kicks-off at 4:00 p.m. on Feb. 27 with a Hard Hat Tour at the site location. This is an opportunity for the sponsoring businesses to meet the Partner Family, Jimeesha Tate and hear about her journey.

The build continues with a “Walls-Up” day where two representatives from each business actually lift the exterior walls of the home on March 6 beginning at 9:30 a.m.

The 10-12 week build allows each company the opportunity have three exclusive volunteer days at both the construction site and at the Habitat ReStore. Throughout the course of the project, companies have the opportunity to strengthen relationships as they work together in a collaborative environment that invites them to problem solve and communicate in new ways. Ultimately this experience has greater meaning than traditional team building activities because at the end of the day, the company can walk away knowing they have helped to improve the life of a family in need in Blount County.

“We are extremely excited to have some of Blount County’s finest businesses to partner with us on this exciting build,” said Tony Gibbons, Blount County Habitat for Humanity president/CEO. “We see this as being an opportunity for more companies in our community to become involved in our mission and we are already having businesses ask us about future builds.”
