Maryville, Tenn. — K12 Inc., America’s leading provider of high quality online school programs, opened its Family Support Campus in Alcoa one year ago. Today, the education company announced it is launching phase two of its plan to expand the Campus and hire 150 new employees.
The expansion is expected to be complete by end of July. When complete, K12 will have provided a total of 330 new jobs in Blount County, TN.
K12’s Family Support Campus is located at the Tyson Center Building (110 McGhee Tyson Blvd.) in Alcoa and is a member of the Blount Partnership.
“We are excited about completing the expansion of K12’s new Family Support Campus in Alcoa,” said Lance Smith, Senior Director. “In just one year, we have built a tremendous team of skilled employees who are committed to education and who reflect the values of this great community. We are proud to be located in Tennessee and to invest in creating new jobs and opportunities in our state. We look forward to adding more people to our team.”
When K12 announced it was locating its new Family Support Campus in Blount County, the company said it was due to a highly skilled workforce, the community’s support for innovation, growth and the values and culture of the community.
The employees on campus provide information on K12’s academic programs, answer questions, offer demonstrations, build relationships and help assist families who choose to enroll in school programs using K12.
“We are pleased that one year later from K12’s original opening in Blount County they have chosen to expand their operations,” said Bryan Daniels, Blount Partnership President/CEO. “Our quality workforce, strategic location, robust infrastructure, and community’s commitment to education make Blount County a top choice for companies to locate and expand their business. This announcement pushes our new jobs moving to the community past 2,700 and over half a Billion dollars of new investment in our community.”
With 152 employees on board in phase one, K12 plans on pushing its total employment numbers to more than 330 by the end of phase two in July 2015. This is in addition to the 80 K12 teachers and educators currently employed throughout the state. In fact, K12 is expected to invest more than $2.4 million over the next five years.
