Adopt-A-Mile Program

With our Blount County Great American Clean Up going on and all of the volunteer spring cleaning we’re doing, its sometimes easy to forget about the rest of the year!  Unfortunately, litter never takes time off.  That’s one of the reasons behind our Adopt a Mile program.

In partnership with the Blount County Highway Department, Blount County Sheriff’s Department, the City of Alcoa and the City of Maryville, the Adopt a Mile program is designed to use the power of volunteers to help keep our roads clean.  Organizations, businesses, church groups, clubs and even individuals can adopt a mile stretch of roadway here in Blount County.  Non-state city and county roads are eligible to be adopted through Keep Blount Beautiful.   All that’s required is that you pick up litter at least 3-4 times a year.  Keep Blount Beautiful provides all clean up supplies and bag pick up service.  Signs can also be put up along your stretch of road so that everyone can see who’s hard work is keeping our county clean!

So if you’re interested or know someone who might be please check out our website here

And remember to keep an eye out for our Adopt a Mile signs to see what groups are helping keep Blount County clean and green!
