April is designated as Child Abuse Prevention Month and it is New Hope’s 20th anniversary serving children who experience abuse in Blount County. All events, activities, and opportunities

TOUR OF NEW HOPE: Thursday, April 13 | Through Jamie’s Eyes | 8:15-9:15 a.m.
Staff will take you behind the scenes to see New Hope from the perspective of a child. Scheduled tours last approximately one hour, including Q&A panel at the end. Free to the public. Sign up online.

YOUNG FABLES BENEFIT CONCERT: Friday, April 14 | Bluetick Tavern | 6-8 p.m.
Sponsored by Jackie S. Mills Homes, this is our kick-off event for Child Abuse Prevention Month – Benefit Concert by The Young Fables hosted Friday, April 14 at Bluetick Tavern in Maryville. Doors open at 5pm with a $10 cover charge. Donations are welcomed and will benefit New Hope.

ICE CREAM FOR PREVENTION: Tuesday, April 25 | The Capitol Theatre | 2-7 p.m.
Visit us at The Capitol Theatre where kids 12 and under will get a FREE ice cream cone! While you’re there, stop by the New Hope table to learn more about how you can help prevent child abuse and chat with Helping Mamas Knoxville who will be partnering with us to distribute items to moms in need.

HEROES FOR HOPE 5K & FUN RUN: Saturday, April 29 | Greenbelt Amphitheater | 8:00 Fun Run | 8:30 5K
Registration is $20 for children under 18 and $30 for adults. In-person and virtual options available. All proceeds benefit New Hope. Sign up online.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT: To show support for child abuse prevention, The Arconic Tower and Alcoa High School Dome will be lit up blue during April. Watch also for blue pinwheel gardens being planted at various businesses and homes in Blount County throughout the month. Show your support by registering for the FREE, two-hour Stewards of Children training offered by New Hope to learn how to prevent child sexual abuse. The next in-person training is on Tuesday, April 11 from 6-8 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Maryville. Register online in advance.
