High school students, adult learners and community college students are all invited to “Meet Maryville” this Sat., Feb. 2.

Hosted by Maryville College’s Admissions staff, the “Meet Maryville” Open House event is designed to help people become more familiar with the nationally recognized liberal arts college.

“We have designed ‘Meet Maryville’ so students and their parents can experience all aspects of Maryville College in a few hours,” explained Dr. Dolph Henry, vice president for enrollment. “With that broad perspective under their belts, prospective students are then urged to return to campus for a more ‘tailored’ visit.

“On that return visit, we arrange for them to attend a class, interact with our faculty and have lunch with our students.”

The “Meet Maryville” event begins with registration at 9:30 a.m. in the Alumni Gymnasium. During the morning sessions, visitors will hear directly from MC students, faculty and staff members about academic programs, as well as the College’s core curriculum and why MC graduates are successful because of it.

Prospective students will then enjoy lunch with current MC students in the Margaret Ware Dining Hall of Pearsons Hall, while parents and other family members attend a “Lunch and Learn” session with Richard Brand, the College’s financial aid director.

Following lunch, students will experience Maryville College firsthand through a unique activity with the College’s Mountain Challenge program. Finally, Maryville College Ambassadors will lead Meet Maryville guests on a tour of the campus. The event concludes at 4 p.m.

If you are unable to attend “Meet Maryville,” Saturday tours will be offered at 10 a.m. on Feb. 9, March 2, March 23, April 20, April 27 and May 11.
