Radio Station WCYQ-FM/Q100.3 was voted Medium Market Radio Station of the Year by Country Aircheck last week at the Country Radio Seminar in Nashville, Tenn.
Q100.3, a property of Journal Broadcast Group, is a 100,000-Watt station that signed on in May 2013. “Since it’s a vote of the radio and music industry, it’s like winning a national campaign,” said Mike Hammond, Program Director of WCYQ, who is no stranger to awards from the CRS. “We cannot thank our listeners enough for helping us take home the trophy.”
Station of the Year honors are awarded based on votes from radio industry peers and music company executives.
WCYQ-FM/Q100.3’s ‘Opie Joe’ Creason was also honored at the CRS as Medium Market Music Director of the Year. Creason, who does PM Drive on Q100.3 as well as handles Music Director duties, said, “Being honored by your peers in the industry for your hard work is a great achievement. We couldn’t have done this without the people who choose to listen to our radio station daily. I’m ecstatic to bring this award back home to East Tennessee!”
WCYQ-FM/Q100.3 is part of a four-station cluster in Knoxville, along with WWST-FM/Star 102.1, WKHT-FM/Hot 104.5, and WNOX-FM/Classic Hits 93.1, all of which are owned and operated by Journal Broadcast Group.
