Maryville, Tenn. – On a warm, beautiful late summer’s eve, a record crowd of nearly 600 people gathered to enjoy some of the best food in Blount County as 21 area restaurants and grocers took part in the 14th annual Taste of Blount hosted by the Blount Partnership and the city of Maryville at the Theater in the Park.

“It was great to see the community come out to support our local restaurants and gourmet shops,” said Blount Partnership President Bryan Daniels. “The friendly competition among the vendors is great and Taste of Blount really shows off the wide variety of places we have to eat here.”

Sponsored by MK Russell & Abbott, Citizens Bank of Blount County, Clayton Homes and Partners Development, attendees voted for winners in seven categories.

Rocky’s Jamaica Sunrise took home Best Overall and Best Main Course for the second straight year. It marked the fifth consecutive year it won Best Main Course with its jerk chicken, red beans and rice and macaroni and cheese.

Full Service BBQ won Best Sandwich for the fourth straight year with its pulled pork sandwich, while Chadwick’s Churn was named the Best Dessert for the fourth consecutive year as well.

Best Appetizer went to Lemon Grass for the second straight year and the fourth time in the last five years.
