Maryville Tennessee is now home to The Bicycle School, a full time training facility for bicycle mechanics, cycling industry staff and enthusiasts of the sport of cycling.

Founder and owner Tim Patterson has been an avid cyclist and mechanic for decades. He also managed Cycology Bicycles in Maryville from 2005 through Oct 2016.

Patterson says as a shop manager he saw the need for a dedicated training facility based on the lack of competent mechanics and qualified staff available for hire.

“Shops can find it difficult to provide the necessary training for their staff in house. The Bicycle School offers an opportunity to train staff at a dedicated facility and provide the focused specific training required to prepare them to provide the best in class service their customers expect”

Patterson adds that, “East Tennessee offers some of the best cycling in the country and our region is quickly becoming a cycling destination for road and mountain biking enthusiasts.

Classes at The Bicycle School range from two-hour basic maintenance clinics to a five-day hands-on mechanic class that prepares students for a future as a pro bicycle mechanic. Class schedules and descriptions are available on the website. www.thebicycleschool.com

The facility opened on November 21st and began offering classes on the 28th. The public is welcome to attend an open house being held November 30th from 6pm to 9pm at the facility, 1017 Hampshire Dr. Maryville, TN 37801
