WHAT: The Blount County Chamber of Commerce and the Smoky Mountain Tourism Development Authority will host the Smoky Mountain Pottery Festival, a juried show which will bring together potters from around the region to exhibit, sell, and demonstrate their craft. The festival is designed to showcase the fine pottery available in East Tennessee and the Smoky Mountain area, as well as to educate young people and the public about pottery.

With some 200 business and political leaders from the Knoxville-region watching, the lights came on Tuesday evening at Pellissippi Place, the technology park under development in Alcoa.

Let there be light — and let Blount County prosper. That’s the essence of a Genesis moment that occurred Monday evening at the entrance to a new R&D park designed to anchor and inspire development in the region.

ALCOA — Susan Keller says there’s no more farm land being made in Blount County, and that’s why she’s not supporting the proposed Pellissippi Parkway Extension. The 4.4-mile highway would connect State Route 33 with U.S. 321 and take 30 acres of Keller’s family farm in the process.

Plans to extend the Pellissippi Parkway to U.S. 321 in Blount County have been on the drawing board for decades, with a final decision on the environmental impact a year away.

Maryville, Tenn. – The Blount Partnership, Knox County, Innovation Valley, Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bill Hagerty along with officials from ProNova Solutions, today announced the company has agreed to become the anchor tenant at the Pellissippi Place technology research and development park on the Oak Ridge Corridor located at the end of the Pellissippi Parkway in Alcoa, Tenn.

Tennessee was named State of the Year in the latest edition of Business Facilities magazine.
