Maryville, Tenn. – The boards of directors for Blount County-based Haven House and New Hope–Blount County Children’s Advocacy Center announced today the intent to merge the two non-profit agencies. A joint resolution gives both organizations the authority to form a transition team to begin the process of merging and forming a new agency, which will be set to begin unified operations in January 2014 once both boards review and vote on the new agency’s charter and by laws.

Maryville College will observe Constitution Day, Sept. 17, with a discussion on how current debates over Presidential and Congressional powers in response to events in Syria have interesting parallels with United States Civil War constitutional issues.
Townsend, Tenn. – The Heritage Center Guild’s annual Fall Mountain Homes Tour will feature a special lunch by well-known Chef Nathan Wells of Nashville. Wells is being brought to Townsend especially for the tour and will prepare lunch for ticket holders.
