Maryville College will observe Constitution Day, Sept. 17, with a discussion on how current debates over Presidential and Congressional powers in response to events in Syria have interesting parallels with United States Civil War constitutional issues.
Townsend, Tenn. – The Heritage Center Guild’s annual Fall Mountain Homes Tour will feature a special lunch by well-known Chef Nathan Wells of Nashville. Wells is being brought to Townsend especially for the tour and will prepare lunch for ticket holders.

MARYVILLE, Tenn. — Second Harvest Food Bank is struggling to feed all children going hungry in our community. At-risk kids get free food while at-school but many do not have anything to eat over the weekend. Though it only takes $60 for Second Harvest to feed one hungry child weekend meals for an entire year, the number of kids that need to enter the Food for Kids program is outpacing the Food Bank’s limited resources.
“What Lies Behind and What Lies Ahead” is the title of the address that Maryville College President Dr. William T. “Tom” Bogart will deliver to new and returning students, faculty and staff during the school’s 2013 Convocation ceremony, which is scheduled for Thurs., Aug. 29.
